This pair of stone loins were carved from stone in the 20th century. The sculpture employed various tools and skill sets to carve these loins. Various forms of mark making can be seen across their bodies, making each one unique. The jade used to create these statues is speckled with black. This contrast in the stone is most visible on the base of the first loin and the head of the second. 1- A loin carved from jade. It is the paler of the two, with it's base appearing gray. D: 3.7 x 5.6 in. (9.4 x 14.2 cm) Condition: in good condition with the top back right-side corner has all been chipped. - The loin has higher points of contrast within the jade. A black streak can be seen on the pedestal which the loin sits upon. D: 3.7 x 5.6 in. (9.4 x 14.2 cm) Condition: in good conditiown with small scratch can be seen on the left top side of the pedestal.
