Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Tongzhi famille verte dragon plate. The Porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with straight opening lip, and raised with round shallow draft, slight concave footing. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the famille verte design color. In Chinese it is called Lu You. It is a lime glaze that contains copper oxide, which in the oxidative atmosphere, is green. Ever since the Ming Dynasty, there have been high temperature green and low temperature green glazes. The Âpeacock green glaze produced in the Chenghua Period of the Ming is most precious.
