直径18.2cm；厚0.5cm
重833g圆形，半圆钮，圆钮座，其外单线方框与凹面方框之间饰十二乳钉纹间隔十二地支铭。方框、博局纹和八乳钉将镜背主题纹饰区分为四部分，每部分按照四神所表示的方位饰有四神之一和众多伴兽。天之四神，以正四方，布局准确无误。四区分别饰有青龙与凤鸟；白虎与独角兽；朱雀与双长耳瑞兽；玄武与羽人持芝草。其外铭文圈带为：尚方作镜大无伤，左龙右虎掌四方，朱雀玄武辟不祥，大富贵。近缘处一圈短斜线纹，边缘纹饰为三角锯齿纹。此镜铭文“尚方作镜”，即在官方的监督和管理之下为宫廷制作的铜镜，而只有此，才会用最好的工艺师、最好的原料、不计成本的去做这样一面铜镜，所以此镜才会如此精美绝伦。
