清光绪五十两银元宝忻州造银 此为忻州造五十两银元宝。元宝是古代的一种货币，由贵重的黄金或白银制成，一般白银居多，黄金稀见。在中国货币史上，正式把金银称作“元宝”，始于元代。不过，早在唐初开元通宝行世时，民间就有取其硕大、贵重之意，旋读为“开通元宝”的。而元代呼金银钱为“元宝”，则是元朝之宝的意思，黄金叫作：金元宝，银锭叫作银元宝，既有政治含义，也是对金银货币约定俗成的通称。
