Early carved oak blanket chest or coffer, pegged construction, rectangular hinged top with cleated ends over a case with four carved linenfold panels to front and two linenfold panels on each side. Feet are extensions of stiles. Incised initials I.M. to front. Two interior tills, one on each side. No side handles. Wrought iron rectangular hinges. 26" H x 48 1/2" W x 20" D. British or Continental, late 16th/early 17th century and later.
