A PAIR OF RETICULATED SANCAI GLAZED POTTERY BUDDHIST LIONS, LATE MING TO EARLIER QING China, late Ming to earlier Qing dynasty, 17th - 18th century. A heavily potted and classic pair of Buddhist lions, one with a brocade ball and the other with a cub. The rectangular bases are executed in openwork. (2) Condition: Good condition with minor wear, some chipping and few minor glaze losses. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Weight: 17.2 kg in total. Dimensions: Height 36.0 cm.
