A tubular silver whistle, with applied ropework band to open end, the main tube with two coiled wire bands, the larger with three loops, two high-relief chevrons with fleur-de-lys and rosettes on a textured background; the mouthpiece angled with semi-circular aperture and no 'pea'. See Treasure Hunting, June 2005, for a report on the finding of a very similar whistle. 7.90 grams, 65mm (2 1/2"). Property of Derbyshire lady; previously in an old jewellery collection formed in the 1970s.
