(2) art pottery masks, plaster, raku: a) dark-colored ceramic mask likely created using western raku technique, decorated with wool and feathers, with a single white stripe down center of face flanked by large white dots. Features finely articulated; b) life-size ceramic mask, likely off plaster cast, with clearly delineated facial features and remaining material radiating out from face. Signed on reverse - UShie/L'. Dimensions are: a) 9 in (22.9 cm) tall X 7 1/2 in (19.1) wide; b) 13 1/2 in (34.3 cm) tall X 11 in (27.9 cm) wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: a) woolly 'hair' is somewhat loose and fragile, glue shows on reverse. Number on reverse also states: 88131 in silver pen, below which is incised "S T 88"; b) uneven coloring around face and top of mask, as well as across reverse. Small dots at various points across bottom of mask. Provenance: From a Washington, DC collection.
