A pair of Chinese famille rose porcelain plates dating to the early 19th century. The plates depict scenic views of Xizi Lake and each have an inscription with 2 seals and a 4-character mark on the bottom. The exterior features 4 bats. Dimensions are: 1 in. tall X 7 in. wide; 2.5 cm tall X 17.8 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Both are in good condition. Provenance: From the estate of Albert T Quon in Beverly Hills, California. Mr. Quon was born in China and came to US as a teenager. He graduated from USC in 1928 and established a successful import/export business in both China and the US. He was the first Chinese American to purchase property in Beverly Hills. He also became the first Asian admitted to the Los Angeles Rotary Club, and the first Asian to serve on the Board of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. He donated millions of dollars to his Alma mater, USC. There is a statue of him on USC campus and a classroom was named after him.
