Unusual 19th Century carved coconut shell trinket box, the hinged shell carved 'A. de G. de Fonblanque 1871', for Albany de Grenier de Fonblanque (1830-1924), British Consul in Cartagena, Columbia, the shell further stipple-carved with Royal Arms and having a heart-shaped padlock handle enclosing a green plush cushion for rings and other jewellery, upon an oblong base, 14.5cm x 13cm x 8cm high Condition: Shell cover is in good order with nice patina and no cracks or losses, interior is also sound, base appears repolished or may even be a old replacement - **General condition consistent with age
