Regency Campaign-style brass-bound rosewood 'Tompson Patent' writing box or lap desk, the hinged rectangular cover with vacant central brass cartouche and bound edges, enclosing gilt-tooled Morocco pouches for Days of the Week, over pen tray, lidded compartments and ink bottle apertures, hinged plush-covered writing slope with GRP Patent lock, and oval stamp 'Tompson Patent with Royal Arms', the sides with flush-fitted handles, 51cm x 26.5cm x 18cm high Condition: Hinged cover has an 8.5cm crack to centre left side, ink stain to rear left corner, otherwise superficial scratching, brass ware in original condition but rather dull, wear to sides of a couple of pouches to underside of cover, some tears to sides of card pouch behind this, very minor losses to pen tray, possibly one ink bottle missing, some discolouration and fraying to edges of plush writing slope and missing its tabs, rod missing to right edge which would release panel to secret drawers (accessed via right hand inkwell aperture), - **General condition consistent with age
