A fine and rare Timurid copy of Jala al-din Rumi (d.1273 AD) Mathnawi Ma'nawi, Iran, circa 1480AD, 335ff., Persian manuscript on paper, 19ll. of black nasta'liq arranged in four columns within gold and blue rule, headings in red, blue and gold, gold and polychrome frontispiece decorated with a rigorous and complex pattern of interlacing split-palmettes, flowering vines and stellar motifs, the text in cloudbands set against a hatched ground, titles in white ornamental Kufic script, with polychrome decorative border around gold text on folios 2a, 2b, final folio replacement, numerous personal seal stamps, in later Safavid lacquered papier mache binding binding, damage to left side of most folios, folio 28 x 17.5cm.
