A George III silver oval tea pot by Solomon Hougham, London 1800, with an acorn and flowerhead finial to the dome centred cover, and ebonised loop handle, a foliate scroll and patera band above pointed lobes, later engraved with a coronet above a cypher C, 24.5cm (13 1/2in) long, 839g (26.95 oz) gross The coronet for an earl for Earl CAIRNS.Provenance: The Cairns family, Ireland; thence to Simon Dallas Cairns, 6th Earl Cairns.
