A HEAVILY CAST BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER, YUAN TO MING China, 1279-1644. The censer with a compressed globular body raised on three legs and a pair of pierced s-shaped handles that flank the short neck and flat, everted rim. The neck is finely incised with a circumferential leiwen band. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Condition: Good condition with old wear and traces of use, some casting flaws, a ding to the body, the feet with recesses revealing slag from the casting procedure.
