Here is a vintage Japanese silk trade label from 1895-1920! These are wonderful! ed to tag their products, these Japanese Silk Trade Labels were beautifully lithographed ing the best processes at the time. They often had unique graphics to distinguish themselves from their competitors. At the end of the Edo period, the port of Yokohama was opened in 1859 and silk yarn threads played a major role in exporting. However, they were being short of stock as the demand increased and inferior products were distributing on the market. Therefore, the Meiji Government shipped goods with the original silk label as a certificate of high-quality silk yarn threads. Each silk reeling mill makes label marks with vario patterns such as the Japanese traditional motifs or the ones familiar to export partner countries. These labels are designed to express “made-in-Japan” to the world. This color lithographed Japanese Silk advertising label is made of paper and was placed on silk manufactured by Kanebo Silk Filature Kanegafuchi Spinning Co. The label depicts a bell with spring time Cherry Blossoms. Measures approx. 3 x 4 Inches. Condtion is as seen, ed from being tagged on the product with some wear, soiling, creases, holes etc.
