Description: This is a Taishoperiod Japanese lacquer document box. Characteristics include inlaid abalone shell,stylized flowers and leaves, as well as a plain black lacquer insert (possiblyto hold documents in place to prevent curling). This is a fine example of a Japanese lacquer that has undergone slight restoration ensuring that it continues to be an impressive, decorative piece. Restoration included touch ups with paint that have been blended into the original surface. Please note, some of theabalone shell is fully missing from one of the two flowers, with portions ofthe second missing (see photos). Dimensions:
