Walnut, inlaid with bone and metal designed as stylised blossom friezes. Fabric seat surface and hinged X-shaped frame. Curved, scrolled armrests. Backrest and seat in later green velour with gold brocade bands. Minor chips and losses in the inlaid parts.
69 x 48 x 101 cm.

A carbon dating of 2 samples from the chair provides a time frame between 1468 and 1635 and 1320 and 1428, respectively. A very similar chair can be found in the Metropolitan Museum in New York and is dated as being from the late 15th century (Inventory No. 27.225.1, illustrated by Otto Kurz. Folding Chairs and Koran Stands. Ettinghausen 1972, pp. 304-305, No. 10.). Another chair, stemming from the 14th/15th century, is part of the collection of the Museum of the Alhambra.
