A Navajo Horse Headstall c. 1895 silver, abalone shell, commercial leather, metal buckle, Lucite mount Composed of a leather harness surmounted by a series of silver plaques, the centermost with a pair of repousse horns; the side panels with matching conchos of typical design. The early Navajo silverwork tends toward simplicity, with little turquoise and limited stamping and engraving.
