An Athabaskan Child's Beaded Hide Jacket c. 1900 moose hide, cotton and wool trade cloth, glass seed beads, thread, custom wooden stand Modeled after a man's hunting shirt, possibly indicating the young wearer's high status. Decorated with lengths of scrolling floral motifs down the front and detailed with hide fringe and pinked edges. This jacket has been identified as being from the Yukon-Tanana region of Southeast Alaska by Kate C. Duncan, author of Athapaskan Art: A Beadwork Tradition, (personal communication, July, 13, 1997).
