Ida Waugh (American, 1846 - 1919) portrait of Thomas Hopkinson (1709 - 1751), after the original 1746 painting by Robert Feke (1705 - 1750) presently in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and acquired from the George Buchanan Coale Collection. The Coale family has long been intertwined with the Hopkinson family. Oil on canvas, no visible signature, labels on back with inscriptions from the artist and restorer, 50 x 40, framed size 59.25 x 49.25, good condition, relined, cleaned and varnished 1926 by Hannah Mee Horner of Philadelphia.
