A George III enamel, diamond and hairwork mourning ring, the central circular black enamel set with rose cut diamond set urn, within a white enamel surround set with rose cut diamonds, on a white enamel band with a central section of plaited hairwork, engraved W'm Tipping, aged 17, died 23 Aug', 1792, finger size O 1/2, 6.4g gross William Tipping was born on 11th March 1775 in Manchester, Lancashire. He died as a teenager on 23 August 1792 in Blackpool, Lancashire. He drowned whilst bathing in the sea at Blackpool, Lancashire. The Tipping family lived in Ardwick, a highly fashionable suburb of Manchester in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, where the very wealthy, such as Nathan Mayer Rothschild and John Rylands, built their mansions.
