Konstantin Egorovich Makovskij studierte 1851-57 an der Moskauer Hochschule für Malerei, Bildhauerei und Baukunst, dann in den Jahren 1857-63 an der Akademie in Sankt Petersburg. Der Künstler reiste viel und trug eine umfangreiche Sammlung an Kostümen und Haarschmuck der nationalen Trachten zusammen. Insbesondere seine Bojarendarstellungen waren so populär, dass sich Vertreter der Aristokratie von Makovskij in Stücken aus seiner Kostümsammlung porträtieren ließen. Restored. Konstantin Egorovich Makovskij studied 1851-57 at the Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, then in 1857-63 at the Academy in St Petersburg. The artist travelled a lot and assembled an extensive collection of costumes and hair accessories of national costumes. Especially his depictions of boyars were so popular that representatives of Makovsky's aristocracy had themselves portrayed in pieces from his costume collection.
