Japy Freres, no.12309 The highly elaborate architectural case with elaborate pediment and finial over four urn finials and four bevelled glass side panels, flanked by slender columns on toupie feet, the 3.75 inch brushed brass Roman dial set with paste stones around the bezel and centre, centred by a cloisonné mask with blued-steel hands, the signed movement with Brocot escapement striking the hours and half hours on a blued-steel coiled gong. Together with a pair of contemporary, similar cloisonné vases on raised plinth bases set with a paste stone border and painted with two Classical scenes set within a cartouche. Running and striking, sold with the original decorated pendulum, a winding key and hand setting key. 43cms (16.5ins) high. The vases 38cms (14.5ins) high.
