原姓梁，名淦堂，字映斋，。因其父四十多岁方得此子，取乳名“老傻”，以求平安。“黄胄”是初中时自己起的笔名，以后一直沿用此名。曾用名梁叶子、苗迪。文革中作品曾题名梁蓬、梁泉。生于河北蠡县，后迁居西安。长安画派代表人物，著名中国画画家、收藏家，杰出的社会活动家。
