A late 19th century French ormolu and patinated bronze clock in the Louis XV style, Raingo Frères and Defreville, the case of ornate scrolling form with addorsed Bacchic cherubs flanking white enamel dial inscribed Raingo Frères Paris, twin train movement striking on a bell, movement with circular Raingo stamp, case, movement and pendulum numbered 1175, inscribed Defreville to the underside, 75cms wide, 52cms high. Although apparently unsigned the design of the clock is in the manner of one of Defreville's leading designers and bronze fondeurs Henri Picard (fl. 1831-1864).
