长20.5cm；宽11cm；高2cm
端石，砚色青紫，砚如鹅形，砚堂为鹅身，平坦宽阔。砚背卷转，绉痕筋脉，状写逼真。筋脉自中心向四周延展。引颈回首，喙置于背上，雕羽翎纹，工艺细腻，生动形象。巧借为鹅之目睛，鹅颈回环围成砚池，砚之两侧浅刻双翼，砚背雕鹅足，雕工精雅，取势巧妙。全砚构思精巧，丝丝入扣。此石制者，因材施艺，自然天成，砚体不乏珠圆玉润之姿，是为清代老砚之佳品。砚背刻有铭文。 张之万，字子青，号銮坡，河北南皮人。道光二十七年状元，官至大学士。张之洞兄。工山水，精书法，与戴熙相契，时有“南戴北张”之称。为近代六十名家之一。
