琥珀是一种古老的宝石饰品材料，产于波斯及其它各国，唐宋时期琥珀作为高级贡品传入中国。因其具有体轻、色泽温暖、久握手中因受热能散发香味等特点至乾隆时期，琥珀是作为与金、玉相当的珍罕之物，运用于皇帝和下臣之间的赏赐、入贡时使用。此一时期首饰及把玩件仍为琥珀雕刻之大宗，但陈设器亦有出现，只是受原料限制，形制都偏小。本品即为整块琥珀雕就，圆雕立状扁瓶形。小口溜肩。扁平身腹，至底渐收，下承镂雕椭圆形螭龙形圈足。盖上设捉手，盖顶之间两侧各设一螭虎形耳。与器身子母口扣合严密，内膛掏挖匀净规矩。瓶体浮雕缠枝花卉纹，花蕾含苞欲放，为传统清代中期之赏玩之器。
