An extremely rare Russian officer’s musical clock with Tsar Alexander III portrait by Paul Buhre, movement Lenzkirch, before 1917.
Origin: Russian Empire / Germany, early 20th century.
Brass case of rectangular shape with four columns in corners, supported on four legs. Top part opening, musical mechanism playing two songs inside.
Movement by German producer – Lenzkirch A.G.U., stamped and numbered (9599470) on the back plate. Engraved signature – Paul Buhre / St. Petersburg above maker’s stamps.
Dial with brass hour Roman numerals with engraved portrait of Tsar Alexander III in military uniform, with St. George order. Signed below: PAUL BUHRE / St PETERSBURG, number 40 stamped in left-lower corner, Cyrillic letters Z.R. in rectangle and round double eagle stamp (official court supplier) stamped in left-top corner. Stamp is repeated on other parts of the clock case.
Clock comes with two original winding keys, one for musical mechanism in shape of en eagle. Last picture shows clock before conservation.
Conditions report: case cleaned, clock and musical movements recently overhauled by a professional clockmaster in full working order.
