Andres Hjerpe, an early 19th century Swedish empire alabaster and marble portico clock, silk suspension.
Origin: Sweden, 1820-1830.
Dimensions: height – 48 cm, width – 35,4 cm, depth – 12,7 cm. Dial’s diameter – 9,3 cm.
Andres Hjerpe, noted as clockmaster in Stockholm in 1818, died before 1836.
Case of architectular shape with four red and grey marble columns, each with two gilt bronze rings. Bases and capitels of alabaster. Rectangular cases’s base of alabaster supported on four precisely sculpted winged lions keeping balls. Top part made of alabaster with urn shaped finial with ball. Movement in gilt bronze drum suspended under top of the case. Removable convex glass in gilt brass frame. White enamel dial with black Roman numerals. Signed A. Hjerpe Stockholm. Eight day power reserve, two train movement with silk suspension.
Conditions report: Movement in working condition, recently overhauled by a clockmaster. Pendulum most probably adapted from other clock. Damages to the case, scratches, repairs, missing elements. Clock comes with winding key.
