Description
Translation provided by Youdao
attributed to Glasgow circa 1760 single mark H&M, of typical baluster form engraved crest and motto, scroll handle with leaf clasping, spreading circular foot (10.5cm high, 9.5oz) The crest and motto is probably for the Lauder family formerly of Belhaven and West Barnes in East Lothian. The motto ‘Repullulat’ translates as ‘It buds afresh’ which relates to the tree being “an old tree budding proper”. However if the crest was read as “The trunk of an oak sprouting out proper” it could relate to the Laurie family also from East Lothian and Berwickshire.
