此碗为撇口，深弧腹，底承圈足，口沿下饰如意纹。边饰缠枝莲纹，碗内施白釉，外壁粉彩绘吉庆花卉，中插长戟，寓意吉庆连连。四个描金圆形开光内分别用篆书书写“万”、“年”、“甲”、“子”四字，应为宫廷祝寿所订烧。清乾隆九年，为“甲子”年，而“甲子万年”为歌颂皇帝万寿无疆、江山永固的吉语。唐英赶在甲子年到来的前一个月，于乾隆八年十二月初一日奉上给乾隆帝新造的“万年甲子笔筒一对”，他在奏折中说：“工匠人等以开春正当甲子万年之始，悉皆欢腾踊跃”，“不日而成”，此笔筒供御之后，自是龙颜大悦。自此之后得到宫廷的青睐。碗心绘五只红蝠，以表“循环如意，辐辏连绵”之意。此碗制作精良、描绘精细，色彩绚丽，圈足底部书青花“大清道光年制”款有火漆，是不可多得的清代精品，颇值收藏。
