Neolithic to Roman Period, 5th millennium BC-4th century AD. A collection of artefacts comprising: a black glass bangle with old collector's sticker and label, in an old box with Bonham's lot sticker; a group of turquoise glazed composition mummy beads; a green-glazed small shabti figure; a Predynastic knapped stone arrowhead with old inked collector's note 'Egypt' to one side. 50 grams total including box, 6-67mm (1/4 - 2 1/2"). Ex Dudley Collings collection, thence by descent; formerly in 'The Swansea collection'; found Alexandria, Egypt, in the 19th century. Dr Dudley Willis Collings (1870-1955) was the first curator of the Southwold Museum and the town's doctor. Collings's son and daughter-in-law were close friends of Eric Blair (George Orwell) who shared their interest in anthropology. [20+, No Reserve]
