李义山文集至清初已佚，朱鹤龄始为裒辑，然诠释多有疏漏。徐树毂因博考史籍，以为之笺；徐炯复征其典故训诂，以为之注，而成此本。全书写刻上版，展之悦目，品相精整。《郋园读书志》著录叶德辉跋文称：昆山徐氏刻书之精当时甲于天下。……注文亦详简有法，不隔断文义，读本中当推此为第一矣。义山文尚不止此，后有钱振伦《樊南文补编注》皆此本所无，予并购得之。吾家子弟有欲工玉溪体者，可以窥全豹已。……” 徐树榖，字艺初，江苏昆山人。康熙进士，官至山东道察御史。
