此为同治刻红印本《夏小正传笺》，首有同治六年沈秉成序云：“为家塾讲习之本，未敢出而问世”，故世鲜有传。《夏小正》为我国最早的一部记录传统农事的历书，此为沈秉成为戴传作笺，此书成于同治二年，正其官翰林时，集诸家之说，近人孙曜称其书：“大约皆取证于《尔雅》、《礼记》，义蕴深厚，吐词闲雅，绝无武断附会之弊”。沈秉成（1823－1895），咸丰六年进士，任编修、武英殿总纂、文渊阁校理等，升苏淞太道，河南、四川按察使、广西、安徽巡抚、任两江总督等要职，在皖时创办经古书院，工诗文书法，收藏金石鼎彝、法书名画美富一时。
