Matthew Panana (Jemez Pueblo, 20th century) stone, 1997. The sculpture features a figure wearing a decorated headdress. The plaque at the base features the title of the piece and name of the artist. Condition: Scuff to robe by right hand Provenance: From a collection in Northern Virginia. Artist Biography: Matthew Panana of Jemez Pueblo. Matthew Panana is a graduate of IAIA (Institute of American Indian Arts) and was commissioned to create a monumental sculpture for the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque. He is also a first prize winner in stone works at the Santa Fe Indian market judged competitions.
