鸟呈卧伏状，头略上仰，圆眼，尖喙，颈部略短，双翅对称，网状纹及平行阴刻线纹。尾部长且上翘，并以两种线条表现鸠鸟的羽翅，雕工精绝。此此造型从汉代开始就广泛出现，明代文人好古，以汉玉为原型，琢为玩物。整件玉鸠玉质润泽，古雅可爱，是文人清赏雅玩的佳物。
