J.W. Benson, Old Bond Street, London - Royal Presentation piece. A late 19th century French ormolu cased Petit Sonnerie carriage clock, with enamelled Roman dial and movement striking on two gongs, width 3.75in. depth 3.5in. height 5.75in. CONDITION: Overall in slightly neglected condition, case has mostly been polished down to the base metal, dial with a few dirt specks but otherwise good, hands original, base of case engraved with a Royal presentation inscription to Victor Biddulph from his godmother Victoria R. on his confirmation March 30 1877, glass all good, escapement possibly original, movement going but not ****ed for timekeeping, repeat mechanism not working properly, slight oxidisation to the gongs, movement engraved SF, hands and numbered 155584, underside with striking / silent / full striking selector, button for repeat is missing, case numbered to match the movement. Original leather travelling case now very tatty, associated winding key.
