A 7-character Chinese calligraphy couplet in ink on white paper by Liang Dingfen. The calligraphy, which has 2 seals, is on paper featuring decorated orbs and ruyi clouds. It is mounted on a silk backing with silk dowels. Dimensions are: 49 in. tall X 12 1/2 in. wide, 124.5 cm tall X 31.8 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Age wear, some creasing, and areas of repair. Provenance: From a Ma***and collector related to Liang Dingfen. The collector's great-grandfather was a close friend of Zhang Zhidong.
