该笔筒呈筒式，下承三矮足，筒身外壁以去地高浮雕及镂雕技法刻划为主，筒形外壁雕山中行旅，如同山间风景，远近尽收眼底，展现出一幅宁静致远的淡泊意境。画面以苍松、虚竹为隔景，刻划了溪水之畔，古松幽篁之下。环转笔筒，绿竹猗猗、长松苍翠、烟霞缥缈，有若仙境，不仅景致怡然，而且人物造形也独具情态，人物神态描绘准确、生动、情趣盎然。整器古朴精美，色泽明润，表现出宁静淡泊、高远清幽之境界，岩壁间云雾飘渺，山峰耸立。山体纹饰雕刻错落有致。
