镇纸，最早可以追溯至秦汉，历经漫长岁月的演化，镇纸雕琢工艺异彩纷呈，风格迥异，本品瑞兽纸镇屈曲伏卧，凝目回首，阔额宽吻，双目圆瞪，身形圆拙，憨态可掬。尤其以项背鬃毛与盘状狮尾的刻画入微，处处可见精益求精的谨慎雕工。瑞兽神物，自古即为人们所尊崇宝爱，更认其有护卫之功能，古之天子亦认为，自身有天神庇佑，灵兽拱卫，古代宫殿、寺庙、有所谓「五脊六兽」亦源于此。此器形态意趣憨朴，法度古拙，可陈置案头作镇纸，寓意美好，也可作多宝阁之陈设品，展玩在目，妙趣横生。
