A Northeastern Chinese late Neolithic jade pig dragon (zhulong), Hongshan culture, 4700 - 2900 B.C. An expressive pig dragon (zhulong) pendant, grey-green jade with brown inclusions. Intact. Height 5.4 cm. Thickness 1.8 cm. Zhulong are small emblematic sculptures of the Hongshan culture. Provenance: From a South German family collection, acquired by the father in China in the 1920s and 1930s, while working as merchant and diplomat.
