STANDING RAMA Bronze South-India , 15th - 16th century Dimensions: Height 49 cm by 17 cm by 16 cm Weight: 7246 grams The base is a square platform with round on top. Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, is standing with the right knee slightly bent wearing a short dhoti with decorative rim and waistband. The left hand is lowered beside his hip with thumb and index finger touching. The right hand held out in the front as if holding something. Typically Rama is depicted with arrow and bow, but not so here. His head is decorated with a very high conical headdress. The face is friendly and the body's anatomical shape highlighted with lines.
