PANEL DEPICTING DANCING VARAHI Wood Nepal , 15th to 16th century Dimensions: Height 92 cm by 24 cm by 12 cm Weight: 19880 grams Wooden panel with two scenes with the lower one filled by a seated Buddha in lotus position with four arms, holding two hands on the ground and two hands raised holding ritual weapons with one broken top. The Buddha wears a five-pointed tiara and big round ear pendents. The face is smiling. Above is a scene of Varahi dancing on a lotus podest. Next to here are two prostrate bulls. Varahi's head is that of a sow and she is wearing an opulent headdress and facing to the right. She has four arms holding attributes but one hand is missing. Her whole body is covered in patterned garments. She is dancing under a kalpaka tree. The back of the panel is flat.
