Each Buddhist god is watching over one direction of the world. Vaisravana is the king of the north and ruler of rain, here holding victory banner and jewel-spewing Mungo in his hands. Virudhaka is the king of the south, ruler of the wind and carrying a sword to protect the dharma. Dhrtarastra, king of the east and god of music, carrying a stringed instrument called pipa with which he converts others to Buddhism. He is friendly-looking and compassionate. Virupaksa is the king of the west and carries a snake and pagoda. He has the divine eye and sees great distances and the karma of sentient beings.
