A Blue and White Underglazed Red ‘Dragon’ Porcelain Vase
Wd.13cm Ht.24cm
Graceful lips, short neck, full shoulders, dignified and elegant shape, full and soft lines. The fetus is white and firm, and the glazed surface is plump and delicate. Decorated with red glaze, and a giant dragon standing among the clouds is painted, fierce and domineering and vivid.
Red in the glaze is a kind of underglaze painting created in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province in the Yuan Dynasty. It uses copper as the coloring agent to directly draw various patterns and ornaments on the white tire, apply glaze, and fire in a high-temperature reduction flame, but the truly colorful ones are extremely rare. The firing is difficult, the yield is low, the color of this device is relatively pure, and it is regarded as an official kiln fine product.
