A Blue and White Underglazed Red ‘Dragon & Floral’ Porcelain Zun
Ht.48.5cm Wd.43cm
Blue and white underglaze red were first seen in the Yuan Dynasty. It was made of copper-red glaze painted among the blue and white, and then fired by high-temperature reduction flame. The round mouth of this utensil is slightly outward, with a short neck, a pair of symmetrical Chi Dragon ears at the intersection of the shoulders and abdomen, and the rounded belly is drooping, with ring foot. The carcass is thick and the shape is majestic. Blue and white and underglaze red are stable in color, and the painting is made with fine brushwork techniques, which are delicate and realistic. The drawn lines are still clear after firing, and the blue and red are intertwined, and the main and secondary parts are clear, with a strong decorative effect.
