关公（160－219）为东汉末年刘备势力的重要将领，以仁勇忠义着称，死后倍受民间推崇，且经历代朝廷褒封，被人尊奉为关圣帝君。关公为武圣，在儒释道三教中皆有着崇高的地位，关公未成佛，但因为人忠义，又被佛教的高僧点化，所以大彻大悟，发愿守护佛法，所以在佛教中，关公属于护法神，又称“伽蓝菩萨”。
