此扳指以天然翡翠所制，玉质细腻温润，宛如凝脂，通体素面无纹，包浆自然，颇具收藏价值。扳指是一种射箭工具，戴于拇指，正下方有一个槽，用来扣住弓弦以便拉箭，作用是防止放箭时，急速回抽的弓弦擦伤手指。因功能类似扳机，故又称为“机”。扳指还被称为“韘”，据《说文·韦部》载：“韘，射决也。所以拘弦。以象骨。韦系，箸右巨指。”明确阐述了扳指的功能以及用法。17世纪以后，满族将扳指发展为首饰，为达官贵人所佩戴。
