本器直口、丰肩、腹下渐收、圈足外撇，线条优美。罐通体以青花描绘，颈部绘四组“壬”字形云纹，腹部通景绘四妃十六子图，仕女或手持萱草，或手持宫扇，或怀抱孩童，面含微笑，童子三五成群，嬉戏玩耍，周围以琴桌、古琴、栏杆、蕉叶相衬。画面布局错落有致，青花发色艳丽。
四妃十六子典出宋高承《事物纪原 帝王后妃-四妃》“三代有夫人而无妃号，汉有贵人，魏始置妃，此夫人号妃之始也。唐初皇后而降，有贵、淑、德、贤，是为四妃也。”康熙初年，百业待兴，瓷器的画面上较多地出现了仕女婴戏的纹饰，仕女手中所持的萱草又称“宜男草”，细微之中表达了人们祈求人丁兴旺的美好愿望。
