桥耳炉双耳斜朝上立于口沿，正视之如拱桥形，故称桥耳。据《宣德鼎彝谱》载，桥耳炉是赐以国子监祭酒。《国朝会典》称“国子祭酒掌国学，举人贡士，以及勋臣胄子教训之事，奉监规而损益焉。此炉以上佳铜料多炼铸造而成，质地细腻，手感沉重。器表平滑光亮，色泛茶蜡。炉为平口，双耳对立翘起如拱，耳廓浑圆如桥，圆鼓腹，下承三足，稳健有力。整器自上至下线条低徊婉转，形体丰满绰约。炉底铸有阳文「大明宣德年制」六字楷书款，字体工整，颇有碑体金石之气。整炉铜质精纯，入手沉坠，其形端庄绰约，包浆浑厚，三乳足形态肥阔短小，乃典型清代三足炉之特征。重约2500克。
